Summary
BRUTL is a motivational fitness app that runs entirely on your phone. We do not run a server. We do not have user accounts. We do not collect, sell, share, or analyse your personal data. All app data — your chosen nemesis exercise, your workout history, your onboarding state — is stored locally on your device using your operating system's built-in storage, and is never transmitted to us or to any third party.
What we collect
Nothing on our servers — because we do not run any. The following information is stored only on your device and never transmitted to Exosphere: the exercise you chose as your nemesis; your workout history (date, duration, brutality score, exercise count, total reps); a flag noting whether you have completed onboarding; a flag noting whether a one-time data-migration step has run. This information lives in your device's standard app storage (AsyncStorage on iOS and Android), in the same sandbox as the BRUTL app itself. It is removed when you uninstall the app.
What we do not collect
BRUTL does not collect, store, or transmit your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifier; your location; your health, biometric, fitness, or medical data; your contacts, calendar, photos, microphone, or camera; analytics, telemetry, behavioural data, or usage events; advertising identifiers (IDFA, AAID) — we do not show ads; crash reports or diagnostic data sent to Exosphere.
Third-party services
BRUTL is built on the Expo / React Native platform. Apple (App Store / iOS) and Google (Play Store / Android) receive standard download and device telemetry under their own privacy policies when you install or update the app. If iCloud backup is enabled on your device, your phone may include BRUTL's local data in your iCloud backup — that backup is between you and Apple. Expo and EAS Build are used only to package the app; they do not receive runtime data about your use of BRUTL. We do not embed any third-party analytics, advertising, social-login, or crash-reporting SDKs.
Permissions
BRUTL requests no special permissions on iOS or Android. The app uses haptics, in-app audio playback, a wake lock to keep the screen on during a workout, and sandboxed local storage. None of these require user-granted permissions. We do not access health data, motion data, the microphone, the camera, location, contacts, or any other restricted resource.
Children
BRUTL is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 16. Because no data leaves the device, uninstalling the app removes all local data.
Your rights
Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete, export, or correct on your behalf. To exercise your equivalent rights: all your data is on your device and can be inspected with developer tools; to delete it, uninstall the app; to rectify it, edit your nemesis selection or clear your history from within the app. If we ever introduce a feature that does involve transmission of your data — for example, optional account-based history sync — this policy will be updated before that feature is released, and you will be asked to opt in explicitly.
Data security
Because we do not transmit or store your data on our servers, our role in your data security is limited to ensuring the app does not leak anything. We use only standard platform storage (AsyncStorage), which is sandboxed to BRUTL by your operating system. The security of that storage and any device backups (e.g. iCloud) is governed by your operating system vendor.
International users
Because BRUTL does not transmit your data internationally — or anywhere at all — no international data-transfer mechanism is required. Your data stays on your device, wherever your device is.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or via the app's listing on the App Store.
